The Repton RT1 Radius Turner (Ball Turning Attachment) from Chronos

SORRY NO LONGER AVAILABLE

The RT1 revolutionizes the process for turning concave or convex radii for the manual lathe market.

The RT1 is unique in the way that it is mounted to the tool holder of the lathe and unlike most ball turners does not need the removal of the tool holder to mount.

It is possible to swap in between the RT1 and other turning tools in seconds.

Not only does the RT1 allow you to create balls unto 60mm in diameter but it will also turn concave radii unto 60mm. The applications for concave turnings are almost endless from pulleys to dies it will save you much time and expense.

EASY TOOL ALIGNMENT
The Repton RT1 has been designed to make the difficult task of creating radii as easy as possible.
This can be seen in how easy it is to locate the tool on the workpiece, where other radius turners need precise measurements to accurately locate the tools the RT1 just needs one minute of simple steps

The cutting tool is securely held in place by four mounting bolts.

The mount has been designed to ensure that the cutting tool can not move as movement is one of the main reasons for tool chatter.

WILL THE TOOL FIT MY LATHE ?
With lathes there are very few standards, tool fitment can vary depending on modifications such as the cross slide, or tool post.
The Repton RT1 needs certain clearances to work properly.
The important clearances that you will need in order for the tool to work with your lathe are as follows;
From the bottom face in the tool mount, the face that the tool sits on, you need 68mm of clearance above the ways.
The second important clearance you need is the tool tip sits 10mm higher than the previously mentioned face.
Providing you have these clearances then the tool will work perfectly !

We have used the tool on mini lathes such as the Clarke CL300M up to a Colchester Triumph VS 2500!

CUSTOMER COMMENTS

We are driven by what our customers think of our tools. Our repton RT1 has undergone three major changes over its life, mainly because of customer comments and suggestions.

The tool came into fruition because a (future) customer saw an early incarnation of the RT1 sat in the owner’s lathe and decided that he wanted one !

When a tool as unique as the RT1 is on the market it is human nature to want to see some comments from people who have actually used the tool to get some reassurance before purchasing. Please read the comments below from people who have bought and used the tool.

“Very well built tool , fits my 13″×40″ with phase II tool post perfect”

“A good tool well made and it works.”

“the tool works great. I even use it for straight cuts, chamfers or even V-grooves”

“I have already put it to use and it works perfectly for the project I am currently working on. It is a simple, easy to use tool that I would recommend to anyone.”
