Hones arched edges
You simply mount the LA-120 Profiled Leather Honing Wheel on the outside of your regular honing wheel. This allows you to hone the outside of your arched edge tool on your regular honing wheel, and then easily switch to honing the inside on the profiled wheel that fits your tool.
The LA-120 Profiled Leather Honing Wheel comes with two standard leather discs. The first one has a radius of 3 mm (1/8″) for honing gouges and the like. The second one has a 60° tip for tools such as V-gouges.

The leather discs are interchangeable and you can easily replace a worn disc with the LA-122 Set of Standard Exchange Discs. Narrower profiles are also available with the LA-124 Set of Narrow Exchange Discs to access your most tightly arched edges.
You can also mount double LA-120 discs– one with a standard profile and one with a narrower profile – so that you can access four different profiles at the same time.
The discs are used with PA-70 Honing Compound. When the discs are new, impregnate them with a few drops of light machine oil before applying the honing compound.

They’ve been tanning and manufacturing leather products for 150 years and are now one of the few tanneries to tan their leather using only natural vegetable products. The leather on Tormek’s leather honing wheels is both eco-friendly and of top quality.

For the honing and polishing of the inside of turning gouges, woodcarving gouges and V-parting tools, Tormek have developed a profiled leather honing wheel, made of solid tanned leather. The diameter of the larger wheel is 120 mm (4 3/4″), which speeds up the honing process. The sharp profile for V-parting tools is specially treated for optimum function and life. This wheel has exchangeable leather discs so you can easily replace a disc with a worn tip. Discs with alternative, narrower profiles are available as optional extra. The two standard discs have a radius of 3 mm (1/8″) and a 60° tip. You can mount double LA-120 wheels, one with standard profiles and one with set of narrow discs, and thus have access to four various profiles at the same time. The design has a large, deep space between the two profiles and therefore permits inside honing of tools with wide and deep profiles and small turning gouges.
